Episode #028
Sendy Mom Marci Morrison @marcibmor, mother of 7, parenting autistic children and dealing with bullies.
Have you ever felt like you’re the only mom in the world dealing with meltdowns in the grocery store, endless therapy appointments, or the heavy weight of wondering if your child will ever be understood? If so, you’re not alone.
This week on the Sendy Mom Podcast, I sat down with the incredible Marci Morrison, (@marcibmor) mom of seven children in a blended family—two of whom are severely autistic, and several who have ADHD. Marci is funny, down-to-earth, and refreshingly real about what it’s like to parent differently-wired kids while juggling the beautiful chaos of a big family. She’s also brave enough to talk about the messy feelings so many parents don’t always say out loud: the grief, the exhaustion, and the fierce love that holds it all together.

Why This Conversation Matters
Parenting neurodivergent children isn’t like the picture-perfect version of motherhood we sometimes imagine. It’s a unique journey filled with sacrifice, advocacy, and often, a sense of isolation. But Marci reminds us that:
- It’s okay to grieve the expectations you once had for your child while fully celebrating who they are.
- Asking for help and building a “circle of excellence” is not weakness—it’s survival.
- Advocacy doesn’t stop with you—teaching your kids to advocate for themselves is essential.
- Humor and flexibility are lifelines when autism and ADHD are part of your daily rhythm.
- Your feelings matter just as much as your child’s—you don’t have to erase yourself in the process.
Lessons from Marci’s Journey
What makes Marci’s story so impactful is that she doesn’t sugarcoat things. She admits to being stretched thin. She laughs at the chaos. She gives herself permission to not sweat the small stuff. And she fiercely loves her children for exactly who they are.
Through her experience, Marci has learned to stand up for her kids in schools, in healthcare, and in social spaces. She has also learned the power of community and what it means to support other parents walking the same road. Her honesty is a gift to moms everywhere who need to hear: you are not failing, and you are not alone.
You’re Doing Enough
If you’ve ever felt invisible as a mom, this episode is for you. It’s a conversation about real life, not the Instagram version of it. It’s about embracing the unexpected, finding joy where you can, and giving yourself grace along the way.
So grab your headphones, take a walk, or fold some laundry while you listen in—you’ll laugh, nod along, maybe even cry a little. But most of all, you’ll leave this conversation knowing you’re not alone in this journey.
